This is a truly special piece and that green with the internal yellow glaze is incredibly rare, I was so lucky to buy these items off a collector while in Provence in May. The green is found in the far west and is just very rare as the village is small. These were used for preserving duck. The lid would go on and the pot buried in the ground to keep it cool.
this piece is from around 1800, she is worn but this is part of her charm, beautiful dainty handles and the lid still intact. She has had a repair to the bottom of the foot but the repair is an aged one and is discreet.
This piece is truly divine, I just love it! That detail to the lid!
